Assistant Tax Manager – In House
About our client:
Our client is a premier Media group. They are involved in a broad range of media activities and have operations in over 200 countries.
The role:
Reporting to the Tax Director you will work closely with the EMEA Tax Manager ensuring that the Group meets its Tax obligations in the UK, Western, Central and Eastern Europe as well as Middle East and Africa. More specifically the position will entail:
• Assist the Manager in all UK tax compliance requirements including preparation and review of UK corporate tax returns, PAYE reporting obligations (supported by Tax Accountant)
• Assistance with UK tax forecasts and UK and US GAAP tax accounting requirements
• Preparation of EMEA region tax accounting requirements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, including managing monthly tax provision process
• Assist with EMEA local country tax compliance requirements and filings, liaising with regional finance directors / managers and local external advisers (specifically Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Nordics), including monthly internal management accounting requirements; monthly tax accrual, tax accounting, tax cash forecast etc as well as liaising with external advisers in respect of annual local tax compliance and providing appropriate tax/accounting information
• Consideration of EMEA intra-region transfer pricing arrangements
• Ensure double tax relief entitlement, overseeing tax residency certificates and withholding tax documentation requirements (supported by Tax Accountant)
• Assistance with ad hoc employment tax related queries and projects
• Involvement in UK employee expenses project
• Research and consider tax implications of new transactions, ventures and territories as proposed by the business, supporting tax director where appropriate
• Assist in global tax projects as and when required
• Point of contact for the business on all UK tax matters, including monitoring UK tax legislation
Candidate requirements:
• You will ideally be ACA/CTA qualified or hold an equivalent qualification
• This will suit candidates looking for their first move from The Profession either from the big 4 or from a smaller firm as well candidates looking to further their career in house
• UK Tax accounting experience will be required but US GAAP experience would be a distinct advantage
• You must be able to demonstrate and strong work ethic and dedication to the highest quality of work
• Be able to act assertively where necessary whilst being able to mix well at all levels outside of Tax/Finance
The Package:
£45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience, plus discretionary bonus, healthcare and pension
