This role will provide a general level of assistance and support to the VAT Team to include VAT compliance services for a wide range of clients. You will be part of the VAT team, ensuring that all of their compliance deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
You will be self-motivated, have an attention to detail, be able to work to tight deadlines, have excellent interpersonal skills together with an ability and interest in understanding their clients' business.
You may be involved with VAT advisory work on an ad hoc basis.
Responsibilities
Project involvement:
* Assist the VAT Team to service their clients' compliance needs
* Preparation of VAT returns, ESLs, Intrastats etc
* Applying for VAT registrations and overseeing the registration process
* Completion of VAT checklists for audit clients
* Ensure client files have all relevant documentation on the appropriate section
* Carry out ad hoc requirements as may be reasonably required by more senior members of staff
* Take responsibility for all client matters as directed by members of the VAT Team
* Active adherence to budget and time pressures, bringing matters to the attention of the senior or manager
* Preparation of engagement letters and client acceptance documentation
Communication and representation:
* Must demonstrate strong team playing skills in all client and internal management dealings
* Develop professional relationships with clients and within the firm
* Provide an efficient and pro active service to clients and their internal management to ensure that their needs are fully met
* Willing and open to take on tasks and challenges provided by their manager
Requirements
* Experience of UK VAT compliance in practice, industry or HMRC
* Demonstrates strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to communicate effectively with Colleagues, Managers, Partners and Clients (verbal and written communication).
* Able to update Manager on appropriate issues on a timely basis, taking in to account potential risks and issues
* IT literate with a high competence in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Ability to work on own initiative and highlight issues as they arise.
* Ability to work towards tight deadlines
* Ability to plan and organise work well, and ability to prioritise
* Enthusiastic / motivated / self-confident
