Our client is part of a financial services group that provides bespoke tax, trust and remuneration planning for Financial Services firms and their staff through independent offices in London and Jersey. They wish to appoint a recently (0-5 years') qualified Accountant. Based from their London office, you will take responsibility for their German clients, the majority of whom are UK tax resident, and all of whom work within the Banking and Hedge Fund & Investment Banking sector.
The Role:
While at a base level you will coordinate the submission of personal tax returns, you will need to understand the role of a tax return as a client capture tool and consequently possess a natural ability to identify substantive fee earning opportunities beyond the actual return. In particular they have a strong focus on the use of pre-immigration planning through the use of Trusts and Foundations, global staff remuneration programmes and Corporate Planning for Hedge Funds, in particular transfer pricing.
Experience Required/Person Specification:
The successful applicant will need to have exceptional presentation skills and be expected to become our public face on all matters German. This will include speaking at both public and private events and contributing high quality editorial to the media on a regular basis on developing German and EU Case Law and its implications for High Net Worth German clients. Existing UK qualifications are not required, but the successful candidate will be required to pass the appropriate reciprocal membership exam of the ICAEW within one year of their appointment
In addition to an extremely competitive base salary, they offer a discretionary un-capped bonus linked directly to your profitability within the group and an attractive benefits package. Overall earnings for the successful candidate should be significantly in excess of the industry average. An ability to win new business is essential, a political awareness would be preferred and a knowledge of other tax systems beneficial.
