Maersk Oil, part of the A.P. Moller Maersk Group, a global Fortune 250 business, has developed groundbreaking technologies while working with tight chalk reservoirs in the Danish North Sea, enabling Denmark to become an oil and gas producing country. Later, these technologies were deployed around the globe allowing us to become a truly global player in the upstream business. Maersk Oil is now producing oil from the Danish and UK sections of the North Sea, Qatar, Algeria and Kazakhstan. It conducts exploration activities in those areas as well as offshore Norway, the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Angola.
The Global Tax Director has been tasked to create a truly global tax function to support the continued growth of Maersk Oil. In light of this we are seeking a highly ambitious International Tax Specialist, based in Copenhagen to join a lean, but highly skilled team managing Maersk Oil's taxes worldwide. The tax organisation is still developing, so there will be flexibility to define the boundaries of your responsibilities.
High Level Role
Reporting to the Global Tax Director you will:
Monitor the correct application of fiscal legislation across Maersk Oil's global organisation
Lead on continuing M&A projects
Working alongside the Global Tax Director to implement tax optimization strategies.
Manage fiscal implications in a variety of cross-border transactions
Handle external communication with public authorities, partners and other stakeholders
Lead functional work streams in projects with tax implications
Lead Maersk's Oil's tax intelligence and maintain updated information on the relevant legislation
Candidate Profile
Degree in law, tax audit, accountancy or similar educational background
6 years of solid experience in tax advisory and/or tax management earned in-house or within a consultancy firm.
Strong experience with M&A, restructuring and transactional tax management.
At least 3 years International Tax experience, working with and co-ordinating across a global remit.
Ability to build strong internal relationships.
